MILWAUKEE - Mayor Tom Barrett declared Tuesday "Rick Springfield Day." That's because the 80's pop sensation is performing five concerts at the Northern Lights Theater at Potawatomi Bingo and Casino starting Tuesday night and running through Saturday.

Springfield has a huge following in Milwaukee so he was honored to receive a proclamation from the Mayor. Springfield said, "I am very glad to receive it. Hopefully there's a key with it that will let me into banks and all of those places!"

Fans from across the country came to Milwaukee to see Springfield rehearse his songs at the Northern Lights theater today.

Kathleen Aldritch says, "I am a true overblown fanatic. I came all the way from Virginia. Fan Andrea kreuger says, "To me everyday is Rick Springfield day. It's no different. it's a big deal!"

Decades after his career defining hit "Jessie's girl" was released, Springfield remains an icon.

Amy Taylor of 94.5 WKTI says, "I think with Rick Springfield it's all about the sex appeal the dreaminess the sensitive guy that will love you and only you."
