WEEP NO MORE
(Words and Music by Rick Springfield)

You left the room, without a sound
And as you both walked out
the people still were dancing 'round
And when you touched
did it feel so bad
You didn't pull away, but now you wish you had
My baby's sad

Weep no more, I'm here beside you,
even though you let me down.
Weep no more, let my love guide you,
shelter you from all around.
Na Na Na Na|
Na Na Na Na, Na

Were you wrong? Did you go too far?
Sitting with him in the back seat of the car
Though you were young
I guess he thought you knew
Now it's just a little while before the baby's due
My baby blue

Weep no more, I'm here beside you
even though you let me down
Weep no more, let my love guide you
shelter you from all around
Na Na Na Na|
Na Na Na Na, Na

Weep no more, I'm here beside you,
even though you let me down.
Weep no more, let my love guide you,
shelter you from all around.
Na Na Na Na|
Na Na Na Na, Na

Weep no more, I'm here beside you,
even though you let me down.
Weep no more, let my love guide you,
shelter you from all around.
Weep no more, let my love guide you,
Weep no more, I'm here beside you
Weep no more, let my love guide you,
Weep no more, I'm here beside you

Sigh.  I like this one. The subject matter is sad, but he just puts so much emotion into the song. I love the way he brings his voice down so much on the verses to the point it is almost airy, then brings it back up for the chorus.

How freakin' sensitive can this guy be?? :o) Love that side of his writing.

He has been hurt by someone who it sounds like cheated on him, but then is sticking by this person and still loves them.  I love that instead of ranting and raving on how this person screwed around on him and did him wrong he uses the words "Even though you let me down."  The hurt in that one line conveys is so much more than all of the angry words he could have used.

A song of betrayal, sadness and forgiveness. Hey. Do I smell an album title?? LOL!!    I guess that concept has already been used. ;o)

I always felt like this was about a girl who got pregnant by someone she really didn't know very well, and the boy who was in love with her, took her back and was willing to claim the baby.  I do think it would help if there were more of an explanation as to what the exact relationship is between the boy singing and the pregnant girl, without that, I feel like the song is a little incomplete.

I think the music starts out with a hint of tragedy, but then gets more uplifting as the song goes on.

If you really want to stretch it, the guy singing could be the same guy that was with the girl, and the girl let him down by getting pregnant, but he was going to stick with her anyway.

Isn't there a line in here to the effect of "he thought she knew", as in it's her responsibility?  Pretty much the thought of men through, oh, I dunno, a few centuries, at least!
