I've Done Everything For You - The Video

Ok, I am deep.  I always liked this video a bit better than "Jessie's Girl" because he had the tight black shirt on instead of the silver Member's Only type jacket!!!  He looked so angry and defiant!!!  Although the JG video had more of a story line,  IDEFY gave me such a thrill because it was mid-1981 and I had not seen Rick in concert,  yet.  So this is what I imagined it would be like because most of the video takes place with him on the stage.

It is so funny to see how these first videos were so basic and then RCA realized that they had a ROCK GOD on their hands, and magically the videos seemed to appear as if they had more thought involved and a bigger budget.  Very smart RCA.  I remember hearing that JG and IDEFY were actually shot back-to-back in half a day.  I am not sure if this is accurate.  Rick mastered that smoldering look into the camera early, as is evident in this video....thank you Mr. Springfield!!!

This is actually the first Rick Springfield video I remember ever seeing on MTV.  I know there's not much to it, pretty much just Rick Springfield hanging around looking cool, but I always liked this video, because I remember after seeing it for the first time, I thought, "Wow, Rick Springfield hanging around looking cool!"  I love the outfit (wouldn't mind seeing him bring that one out of the closet), and he looks like he is having a good time.

I actually didn't see this video until about a year ago when I discovered it on a Rick tape that someone had made for me from their stuff. I didn't even know one existed. Therefore I never got to view it when it was probably a really hip, "cutting edge" video at the time.:o)

I have two words for this one. Cheese ball.:o)

To me, Rick seems so stiff. Obviously this one was REALLY early on, and I know in later vids he is much more relaxed and natural, but it is kind of hard for me to watch.

The part that cracks me up the most is all the aloof, stare off to nothing poses they put the chick in the red dress in! Makes me giggle. Also made note that in both this vid AND Jessie's Girl, the band is a three piece. Didn't really think about that before re-watching them tonight. Not that it makes much difference to the video, but an observation.

Like I said though, my point of view is a bit skewed as I did not get to see this back in the day before all the high tech stuff that is out there now. I don't have those memories and reactions to go back to now and revisit....
