Jessie's Girl - The Video - Frickin A site Fan Reviews / Comments

I just can't get enough of this video. I love it! I think the Frickin’ A has done an excellent job in the remake department with the song, and this video compliments that very nicely.

At first I was a bit put-off by the 80's chick. I was thinking it/she was going to end up looking stupid, rather than the parody it is. I'm glad that the lead singer found her hot at least!

I agree that the wardrobe of Rick the therapist was *too* old. To continue on the parody, he should have been wearing one of his famous suits, complete with skinny tie and hi-top tennis shoes. The way he looked at the end, from the wardrobe that is so "him" to the eyebrow shrug -- that's the look that has spawned a thousand sighs from me in my lifetime, I'm so glad we have it on film now. :-)

I just keep thinking I hope to see this on a big TV screen sometime. I feel like I'm peering through a window or something, watching it on this little square on my 'puter. Some people watch porn...I watch Rick...it has the same effect I think.

Every time the damn Brittney commercial pops up, I boo at the screen. Is that bad? If you keep hitting reply, you shouldn't have to suffer through it again. I could see if you left the site and came back... :-)

One more thing, then I'm done rambling. :-)

I watched it a few times this afternoon, and then when my kids game home from school I played it again. They heard the familiar tune and were curious as to why it sounded "different" so they wandered in the room. I restarted the video, not saying a word to them. My daughter (who is 8) jumps up at down behind me going, "Mom, Mom! It's Rick! It's Rick!" As if I didn't know. Then she pointed him out again later. Then my son piped up (the 12 yr old) "There's Gomer in the backseat of the car!". Nice to know they can pick Rick and his dog out of the crowd. :-) (I think)

This version of JG does not have the affect on me that Rick's does. When I hear the first strum of the Classic JG, my stomach truly gets butterflies.

I think the video is very funny and I hope it does get some tv time. I love how Jessie's Girl has that retro 80s look and all the other girls basically blend together as they look the same in their 2005 attire/hair/make-up.

I know the 80s clothes were funky, but I must admit, I do miss them and the hair sometimes ;o)

I'm so glad they showed Rick walking to the car at the end so that you can really see how beautifully he has aged. The "doctor" part, while very cute, doesn't really show him off, some who haven't seen him in 20 years, may not recognize him during that part.

Love that Gomer was in the back seat. Memories of Ron in the 80s came fludding back.

I think the video is a very, very nice tribute to Rick. Frickin A showed great class in this one.

I like it. Yeah, the sweater made him look old, but without it, he would not look the role. I like when they flash back to him with the line "pimp with the lines" - a rather shocked look.

Love the ending and how his face lights up.

I think it is a very nice nod to the era as well as Rick himself. Tastefully done and not mocking in the least. Definitely a fun, eye candy ride.

Jason (and the rest of the band) did a great job of giving credit that this song is an 80's song, but putting a new generation twist on it.

In the dance scene when Jessie's Girl hits her fists together twice...isn't that the sign in Friends for something naughty? It just made me laugh when she did that. LOL

It caught me off guard when Jason sings "I want a piece of Jessie's Girl" towards the end of the song (I didn't notice that line when I listened to the track on line before the video), I don't know if I like that too much (I guess that's just the mom in me coming out), but I can see where the younger generation will probably go for it.

But my all-time favorite moment in the video is the eyebrow lift when Rick is getting in the Porsche. How cute is that?

Like the diploma for R. Springfield ~ Didn't like the grandpa clothes they put Rick in as the therapist - thought it made him look old ~ Looked like Rick had a great time playing guitar ~ Gomer looked great ~ Rick looked HOT walking up to the car... All in all I enjoyed the video.

Okay - I love it! There it is - no take backs - I love it :-)

When Jason starts talking in the beginning, you just KNOW that it is Rick he is talking to. Finally (after all of about 12 seconds) we hear and see Rick - oh, my!!! Have I mentioned lately how much I love him in his intellectual writer guy clothes!! Could he get more "English Lit. Teacher" looking than the argyle and those glasses sliding down his nose???? *SIGH* I get the impression that rather than an actual private therapist, he is like a school guidance counselor - I LOVE THAT!

I also love that Rick asks the question that people have asked him for years."why don't/didn't you just tell her?"

Jessie is MUCH hotter this time around. I can almost forgive the girl for picking him over Jason.whereas in the original I thought WHAT??? That guy over Rick??? No way!

I like that in the beginning JG actually has a shirt on - LOL. Unlike the protagonist's current girl. Maybe it is a statement to old fashioned girls? (Of course this theory gets blown later in the party scene when JG appears in a halter top and gold spandex.)

I adore the look on Jason's face after he gets thrown off the bench when he has his palms up in a shrug. He looks so innocent and lost.

I like the scene under the tree. From the fact that there is a strawberry (which brings back so many memories) to the idea that Jason is up a tree actually stalking them. People always laugh about JG being an ode to stalking, so I find it hysterical that there is a funny "stalky" moment in this video.

I really like the nod to the original when Rick and the band are playing under those retro lights. Rick looks like he is having a great time, and he almost looks fatherly.the dad passing on the baton. "Here's my song, my heart is in it.now take good care of her."

The "pimp with the lines" look from Rick is just classic. My favorite part by far!! Almost surprise and disapproval and sarcasm all rolled together.

The party/dance scene is quite comical. It reminds me of the movie, Orange County with Jack Black. I keep imagining the scene where the girls are dancing to that "Come Come My Lady" song and Jack's brother is so fed up with girls like that. I wonder if that is intentional. JG herself is hysterical, and I think the dancing is a compete farce. If the dancing were not so bad, it might be a low part in the video. But it is just so horrible, I *have* to see it as funny. And her clothes!! Now there's an outfit for ya!!
