Song Facts:
....but Springfield at least concludes it on a promising and seemingly prayerful note with "Open My Eyes." The track, just over a minute in length, searchingly repeats the phrase "open my eyes to you" in lush, multi-tracked harmony. It's almost as if, in classic daytime drama style, Springfield aims to kill off the character he made famous and to reveal, if only tentatively, his true self. That would be the best possible ending, as most of Shock / Anger / Denial / Acceptance makes you hope, for Springfield's sake, he was only acting after all. - Steve Morley, freelance writer. |

(Hey, anytime we can squeeze in a HTH quote, we must!) I love it when this comes on --its like a "break" in the constant bombardment of chaos in everyday life-----and anything Rick sings in that sexy, swooning voice is fine with me I wish he had included this as a hidden track on the end of Every Night I Wake Up Screaming. It really does go hand in hand with "everything looks better with my eyes closed". A perfect match. I just felt a little gypped when I thought I was getting 17 songs and this was one of them. If putting this on the end of the cd made him feel a little better, then I can't really complain.
