Feelings
(words and music by Brian Cadd & Don Mudie)
Hey Alright
She's doing just what she should
Hey Alright
She's bringing you down real good
She's bringing you feelings you could never feel before
She's bringing you feelings you could never feel before
She's bringing you feelings, feelings, feelings
Hey Alright
You're finding it hard to wait
Hey Alright
You fear you'll be too late
You fear your feelings will be too hard to bear
You fear your feelings will be too hard to bear
She's bringing you feelings, feelings, feelings
She's bringing you feelings, feelings, feelings
Hey Alright
You finally made the grade
Hey Alright
You know the game's been played
She's bringing you feelings you could never feel before
Feelings you could never feel before
She's bringing you feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings, feelings (repeat)

When I heard the opening bars, I thought of another song I had heard before but I can't quite place my finger on it. I don't like this song and wasn't surprised to see that Rick didn't write it. Thank God! This would surely be in competition with "Annie Goodbody" for Rick's worst songwriting foray. The lyrics are awful and the chorus is annoying,
Feelings, Feelings, Feelings
The vocal is equally annoying.I'm assuming this was Darryl Cotton. He sang this song like someone forced him to do it, no emotion, just a whiny voice over and over. I think a jingle singer could have done better. Ok, so i guess I don't like this song!
The drum and guitar are the ONLY things that I care for at all in this song. The lyrics could have been written by my 6 year old daughter. I read over them, as the song played and seperately, and I just can't get much meaning out of them. I know Rick didn't write this, but they definitely should have asked for some input, because I know he could have 'spiced' it up a WHOLE lot.
This song fits very well in it's time period - it just seems to remind me of that era. But I don't get the lyrics at all ... by the end I'm really tired of hearing the word 'feelings'. The meaning of the song and exactly what the feelings are seem to be pretty well buried. However the guitar, bass and drums have a cool vibe. If I could strip out the vocals my impressions would improve greatly! But alas, ick.
Ok, first off, I need to point out that Zoot really did ROCK back in the day! I love the guitar and the harsh sound that they achieved. When I compare the music to other music from the same era, gosh, they were da bomb!
I love the sound on this song. The guitar is awesome. The drums I dig. Fantastic bass line. Very well constructed musically. Lyrics, granted there aren't many, but I kind of dig the way they fit in the song. I'm
obsessed with music, especially music like this. I cannot get enough of this kind of guitar sound, this type of musical style. I know that some of you have said the lyrics are very elementary. For me, a song consists of several different pieces. When you put those pieces together, the lyrics are not the only part of the song that speaks. I do feel the music is saying something and I think it meshes well with the lyrics. I give this song an A +.
I'm listening to this song right now, closing my eyes, getting this great picture in my head of a young scantily clad Rick in a pink leopard print loin cloth and big fluffy boots jammin on the guitar. Gosh what I would give to live that moment for real! If they ever invent a time machine, I'm gonna go to
Australia
and become a Zoot groupie. I would bang my head to this one as much as I do to Jesus Saves. Oh, and off the Rick review for a moment, Beeb's vocals are pretty kewl in this song. Ok, back to Rick. I dig that guitar! Also, the part where the bass drum is hit repetitively, I can see Rick on stage in them fluffy boots dancing. I don't want to open my eyes. I'm feeling this.
