MORE FAN REVIEWS:
I
unfortunately, due to the fact that I lived in BF South Dakota then,
never got to see that beautiful "nekkid" butt on the big
screen. :o( The only movie theatre around was in a town 18 miles
away from us and they got ONE movie a week and that somewhat limited
the number of movies that were shown from different release weeks.
Needless to say H2H never made it to the theatre in the big booming
town of Mobridge South Dakota....
My first viewing of the movie took place at my birthday slumber party
after it had come out on video. My mom rented a VCR (we didn't even
have one!) and H2H and one other movie (that never actually even got
watched...) for me and my friends. I believe we watched it at least 3
times during the course of all night and since we had a huge
blizzard and my friends could not leave to go home, nor could we get
to the place to return everything, we watched it several times the
next day too!
That is one movie that I vividly remember watching, every moment of
it. I also remember our brilliant move of pausing the "nekkid"
butt scene and then calling up stairs for my Mom to come down and see
it! What were we thinking?!! She could have soooo made us turn it off
and not watch it anymore! I also remember we were fixated with
Mike Baird's
(drummer in film) line "Wow, a new Volvo." For some reason
we found it sooo funny and we re-wound that and watched it like 800
times.
I thought then, and still do actually, that Rick did a great job in
this film! I know everyone says this is such a horrible movie, but I
have just never felt that way. Now, having said that, I also don't
view it as an earth shattering, Academy Award contending movie by any
means. I have just always enjoyed it, and him ("nekkid" butt
or no "nekkid" butt), the story and the music. Wish they
would release the original version before some of the "fun" stuff
hit the cutting room floor. Good God, they say it was rated X before
they cut it! Yikes! Man is MY imagination running wild on THAT
one.......<pauses for short daydream.....>
Side note for any Days of Our Lives fans..... Pay close attention to
some of the scenes in the recording studio. A couple of months ago I
got a look at one of the female band "friends" in one of
those scenes and thought "no way". But it was "yes
way" after I checked the credits. One of them is none other than
Lauren Koslow (aka Kate Roberts) from Days! I believe the credits list
her (and another name) as "band friends".
I actually got to see this movie the night before it hit theaters as the radio station where I lived did a sneak preview. One way to win tickets was to go to Arby's and unscramble some phrases. I don't remember what they were, but I have a feeling they were Rick related. I knew I wasn't leaving that Arby's until I had it figured out. It really didn't take that long. Then later, the radio station was giving away tickets and they had asked who Noah was with when he left General Hospital. This is somewhat of a tricky question because Dr. Drake couldn't make up his mind, but the answer they were looking for was "Tiffany" and everyone else kept saying Bobbie, so I won another pair.
So after much anticipation, Thursday arrives and it's time for the movie. The radio station did some raffles giving away some Hard To Hold promo stuff, but I didn't manage to win any of that.
The movie starts....
I have to admit, I was a little embarrassed by how much Rick was showing off his naked butt. I'm like, "okay, enough already." I really did like the movie. I went and saw it the next night, and then on Saturday, and I'm not sure how many more times I saw it after that before it was pulled. I've probably only watched it around 10 times total. It wasn't until I watched it after about a 10 year break that I realized how badly the movie was edited. I think that originally, I was so focused on watching Rick in the movie and his performance, that I really never saw the movie as a whole, so after some time went by and I watched it again, I was able to see it more from a distance.
My feeling now is that the movie was OK, it would have been better if it had been edited right. I think Rick's performance was really good.
